Post AGM News

GCHRs AGM is all over for another year. Some on going issues have been resolved and new challenges lay ahead.

The committee was reelected unopposed.

President: Claude Riley
Vice President: Albert Melchert
Secretary/Treasurer: Ruth Stewart
Track Supervisor: Gordon Stewart
Heritage: Peter Simpson

GCHR has been given the go-ahead to complete the relaying of the platform road over the next 3 months, with work commencing on the weekend 22nd – 23rd of August. If you would like to help get in contact with us and Join. We also welcome hecklers.

Progress with our Heritage Operators Licence has slowed (if that’s even possible). There is a state wide issue regarding Level Crossing Interface Agreements between Transport for NSW, John Holland CRN and Local Councils. Until this issue is resolved our HOL progress will be slowed. GCHR is considering altering our application to limit operation to the Crookwell yard until such time we can progress further.

As you may have seen from the photos published on our Facebook page, quite a bit of snow fell on Crookwell and surrounds last week. Closing off all roads until late Friday afternoon. Despite GCHR having an all adult membership, the snow reduced us to 5 year old’s and a snow ball fight broke out.

A big thank you our members that have renewed their membership for the next year and welcome our new ones. We look forward to another productive and positive year ahead.

Thanks also to Lindsay Richmond who has posted some wonderful photos on our Facebook page of the Crookwell Branch. We are stil seeking more of these for a display to celebrate 30 years since the last train to Crookwell. Should you wish to contribute to this display please contact us. All submission will credit the photographer/owner.

Our next open weekend and general meeting is August 22-23, 2015.

ALL WELCOME!

Up coming AGM

One thing about great thing about Crookwell is the never ending demand for firewood.

Topping off a productive weekend, last Monday our wood raffle raised $700 for GCHR. Thank you to the fine people of Crookwell and visitors. It’s great to see you come out in support of this great project.

The website is coming along, however Murphy’s Law is ever present. The computer used to build the website stopped working and the new site was lost before it could be uploaded.

Our next meeting and working bee is on June 12-15. A general meeting will be held on Saturday the 13th @ 10am.

Our AGM is to be held on July 18, 2015 starting at 10am. The location is the meeting room of the Crookwell RSL.

Last News for 2014

Another productive meeting at Crookwell has come and gone. It all started Friday(12th) morning with our volunteer members selling raffle tickets and despite being summer our firewood was as popular as ever. We raise $570.

More members turned up on Saturday and got stuck into the yard work with brush cutters and mowers going everywhere.

At the meeting, many thing were discussed in how GCHR can raise its profile. Also GCHR are experiencing frustration in delays in being issued its Heritage Operators Licence. Good news though is JHR has submitted or will submit application to rebuild the Station fence and re decking the Goods Shed.

Later in the afternoon members had our Christmas Party. Plenty of food, games and laughs. We reflected on the past year and what we achieved. Most notably was the massive clean up of the Station building, good shed and the yard.

Sunday was more yard work. It was unfortunate that ride-on suffered a puncture early on and we couldn’t finish all what we wanted. Sunday arvo we made a run into Goulburn to check on the Workshop and a run to Bunnings.

The Crookwell Station is now under video surveillance. If we couldn’t finish the yard work, we finished installing the cameras and turning on the system. Remember to smile when you visit.

Big open weekend coming in January, The Australia Day weekend.

Again a big thanks to all for the likes. 187 in a little over a month.

We all at the Goulburn Crookwell Heriage Railway wish everyone a merry and safe Christmas and a happy new year!
